In Memoriam

Dorothy Kerrigan
November 29, 1925--May 19, 2016

Dorothy L. (Comerford) Kerrigan, 90, of Smyrna, GA, formerly of Miami, FL and Hudson, NH, joined her late beloved husband William J. Kerrigan on May 19, 2016.

Dorothy was born on November 29, 1925 in Lowell, MA and lived on Andover Street for over 25 years. She was the older of two children born to the late Charles and Louise (Lane) Comerford. Dorothy graduated from Lowell High School and studied Business at Westbrook (ME) Junior College. Following school, Dorothy worked as an office manager for her father’s company-- First Citizens Bankers Corporation of Lawrence.

Dorothy loved to dance and met her future husband on the dance floor. In August 1950, Dorothy and Bill married and enjoyed over 26 years of marriage together. For many years they were the well-loved owners of the Kerrigan Brothers Farm on Lowell Road in Hudson, NH. Their vegetables and annual flowers were sold locally and at the produce market at Faneuil Hall in Boston.

Following Bill’s passing, Dorothy moved to Miami, Florida. During her nearly 20 years there she enjoyed traveling to the far corners of the world with members of the Eastern Airlines Travel Group. She loved music –especially jazz—and was especially fond of the jazz piano skills of Billy Marcus. In 1995, Dorothy moved to Smyrna, GA to be close to her daughter but returned to Florida, to her condo in Vero Beach, every chance she could.

Dorothy’s greatest pleasure in life was her family. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and beloved Grammy. Her beautiful smile would light up a room and she made sure each one knew they were loved equally. Dorothy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law William and Laura Kerrigan of West Hartford, CT; her daughter and son-in-law Joyce and John Lewis of Smyrna, GA; her grandchildren Katie Kerrigan of Somerville, MA and Kevin Kerrigan of Boston, MA; her brother and sister-in-law Charles P. and Sheila Comerford of Kennebunkport, ME and their three children Charles Comerford, Elizabeth Worcester and Amy Conly; and her loving companion of over 20 years John Killiany of Sunrise, FL.

Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday 25th from 10:30-11:30am at the DUMONT-SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 50 FERRY ST., HUDSON, NH with a Prayer Service beginning at 11:30am and burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Hudson.
