NICK MELE OBITUARY MELE, Nick Joseph June 14, 1928 - March 4, 2023 A wonderful man has left us with wonderful memories. Nick Mele passed away peacefully, in his sleep, at the age of 94. Nick leaves behind a lasting legacy including his loving wife, Joanna; four children: Melody, Lew, John and Michele; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers; a sister; and many friends. An accomplished musician, Nick's knowledge and love of music was passed on to his immediate and extended family, and will live on through them. Nick was such a kind, honest, genuine and most importantly, loving man, and we're finding it difficult to say "goodbye". A Celebration of his Life will be held on Thursday, March 9th, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m, at Montecassino, 140 Jevlan Dr., Woodbridge. In lieu of flowers, we are setting up a fund, in honour of Nick, to ensure that underprivileged children in Toronto have access to music lessons. Please make a donation to Community Music Schools of Toronto online at communitymusicdonate.org or by phone at 416-364-8900, ext. 34, and specify "for the Nick Mele Fund".

It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nick (Mele); he died peacefully in his sleep at home with his family early on March 4, 2023.
Nick was a truly gifted and accomplished musician (guitar, mandolin banjo, flute & trombone) and those of you that were fortunate enough to listen to him play for various events at PBV will remember him well, often accompanied by Joanna on vocals and accordion and it made for a rare listening treat. Walking past their front door you could often hear the sounds of familiar tunes and you knew that you were listening to something rare and beautiful. PBV was a warm and welcoming place for Nick and for many wonderful years it was his second home with Joanna.
Nick was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humour and he will be forever missed by his family and friends. We will raise a gin and tonic (no lime) in your honour, shed a tear and wish you well on your voyage. Love you forever.
