Ann Burke



ANN (LYONS) BURKE BURKE, Ann (Lyons) 92, died peacefully at her home in Mashpee, MA on May 19, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Formerly of Vero Beach, FL, Needham & Brookline. She was the daughter of the late Nora Lyons Tiernan & Thomas Lyons of Brookline. Devoted wife of 50 years of the late Francis E. Burke. Loving mother of Ken Burke and his wife Deborah of Mansfield, and Alison Hopkins and her husband Stephen of Medway. Cherished Nana of Jennifer, Jeremy, and Kyle Burke and Mackenzie Hopkins. Predeceased by her beloved son, Dana F. Burke. Loving sister of the late Patricia Kelley. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Ann also leaves many loving friends in Needham, Florida, and the Cape.

Ann was a graduate of St. Marys High School in Brookline and Regis College, class of 1943. She worked in the wool business in Boston for 15 years and also worked for the Needham Public Schools. Ann was a member of the New Seabury Womens Club and parishioner of The Parish of Christ the King in Mashpee.

She loved going to the beach in Florida and Cape Cod, but her favorite thing in the world was spending time with her loving children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 21st from 5-8 PM in the Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave., (at Route 151), MASHPEE. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 22nd at 10:00am at Christ the King Church, 3 Jobs Fishing Rd., Mashpee. Burial will be Private at St. Josephs Cemetery in West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Ann to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02884.
